NARACOORTE LIONS “TASTE FESTIVAL” TO HELP THE HOSPITAL

The Naracoorte Lions Club will use the proceeds from the “Taste the Limestone Coast Festival” to “kick-off” a fund to replace the current Naracoorte Hospital Mobility Access Vehicle. The current vehicle, which is used for community transport for wheelchair – bound people, is currently about 26 years old and desperately in need of replacement.

Naracoorte Lions have been running the festival for the last two years and the popularity of this fun festival weekend, with golf, art, outdoor movie, farmers market, race meeting and the food, wine and music festival itself has enabled Lions to raise funds for much needed community projects.

Festival Chairman Lion Derek Blackwell said that "Lions view this need as a perfect opportunity to uphold the Lions Club Object of assisting the needy in the community".

In 2011, Lions donated festival proceeds of $10 000 to the Lions national flood appeal, and in 2012, $12 000 was donated to the community CAT Scan Appeal for the Naracoorte Health Service. Naracoorte Lions certainly hope that funds from the 2013 Festival, to be held over the weekend of 8th – 10th February, will enable the club to make a similar donation towards the Mobility Access Vehicle.

The Taste the Limestone Coast Festival will commence on Friday 8th February with an Ambrose Golf competition and the evening will feature an outdoor cinema screening of the family movie Ice Age 4.

On Saturday, the magnificent town squares become the venue for the food, wine and music festival, which will be a relaxed family friendly festival with practically non stop music.

On Sunday morning, the squares will provide the venue for the Farmers Market and the activity moves to the Naracoorte Race course for the Mini Jumbuk Naracoorte Cup meeting. The full program certainly fits our slogan of “Come for the Taste and stay for the Race”.
Strong community support for the festival will mean that Lions can provide a large donation for this much needed replacement vehicle – something that many of us may need one day!
