Naracoorte will once again be able to enjoy “The Taste of the Limestone Coast” in February 2017!

Naracoorte Lions have formed a new committee to oversee the event and we were delighted to welcome two community members to the group. The 2017 Taste Committee will be chaired by Lion Ross Gleeson and he has once again issued an invitation to community members to come along and be part of the planning group.

Following the 2016 Taste Festival, there was a huge positive response in the local and social media about the value of the festival to our community. There was also considerable community discussion and many ideas were raised as to how the festival could be improved. The committee will consider these suggestions, as well as inviting more ideas and more participation from the community.

Lions also invite other organizations in Naracoorte Lucindale to consider joining in the festive weekend by planning an event that is complementary to the existing programme. The Travel Expo and the Sidewalk Sale are both excellent examples of how the festival can grow to be more inclusive of locals and tourists alike!

“Taste” is now a well-established event in the regional calendar, having been established in 2001 and run annually since then. Since Naracoorte Lions took on the management role in 2011, over $60,000 has been raised from the Saturday event and donated by the club to local and national appeals, including the CT Scanner, Longridge, the Mobility Bus, flood appeals, the Men’s Shed and so on. Lions want to continue this pattern of presenting an enjoyable and profitable local event and also to help others in need.

Community members are invited to come along and join in the planning so that the festival programme can be more comprehensive and more engaging and enjoyable for everyone. If you wish to be a part of this very rewarding process by joining the Taste team, please make contact via the website or look us up and message Taste on Facebook.
